The new 3p pay-per-mile car tax from Rachel Reeves has been slammed by campaigners. A new VED+ charge from the Labour Party government is expected to sting electric vehicle motorists from 2028.

It could see road users charged £300 extra - per YEAR. Howard Cox, Founder of campaign group FairFuelUK, has led the criticism this week, saying it "can never be a fair way" to tax "37 million drivers".

Mr Cox fumed: "A potential rate of around 3p per mile on top of existing road taxes, which could add £300 annually for the average EV owner driving about 10,000 miles a year.
