After Michael Vander Luitgaren was called up to the varsity late last season, Batavia offensive coordinator Sean Anderson started to see something in him as the games got bigger.
Vander Luitgaren was under center in leading the Bulldogs to the Class 7A state championship game last year. The junior quarterback appears even more comfortable in his second playoff run.
“He practiced a lot with us throughout last season,” Anderson said. “All of a sudden, in game, you started to see ‘Playoff Mike’ with all the plays he can make and the plays he can extend.
“We saw it last season. I was really excited to have him for a full season as our QB1.”
Vander Luitgaren calmly guided Batavia to another state quarterfinal appearance Friday night, throwing for 256 yards and three touchdowns in a 42-2
