BALDWIN PARK — After Baldwin Park snuck into the CIF Southern Section Division 11 football playoffs with a wild card berth, the Braves made the most of it with a 42-28 victory over visiting Maranatha on Friday.
Baldwin Park quarterback Valentino May led the way, completing 17 of 22 passes for 296 yards and three touchdowns. The Braves (6-5) will host Shadow Hills, a 37-0 winner over Jurupa Hills, in the second round next week.
“This was just a sample of what we’ve got for the rest of the playoffs,” May said. “We’re getting better every single week so definitely we are coming together.”
Donavan St Cyr also had a big night, hauling in eight catches for 107 yards and two touchdowns.
