Horrifying footage has revealed of a group of neo-Nazis rallying outside NSW parliament, drawing furious condemnation from political figures.

But in a twist, NSW Police revealed the demonstration had actually been allowed - with the state’s top cop admitting there had been a communication “breakdown” between police and the government over the rally.

More than 60 members of the neo-Nazi organisation, known as the Nationalist Socialist Network (NSN), demonstrated outside parliament shortly before 10am on Saturday, holding a large sign reading “Abolish the Jewish lobby”.

Dressed in dark clothing and sunglasses, the members chanted slogans used by the Hitler Youth.
