Nagpur : The Multi-modal International Cargo Hub and Airport at Nagpur (MIHAN) has proven to be one of the largest employment generators in the Vidarbha region. As per data shared by the Maharashtra Airport Development Company Ltd (MADC) in response to an RTI filed by activist Abhay Kolarkar , the project has created a total of 1,16,435 jobs so far — combining both direct and indirect employment opportunities.

Of this, 78,771 jobs have been generated within the Special Economic Zone (SEZ) area, while 37,664 jobs came from the non-SEZ segment located on Nagpur’s outskirts.

The RTI response also provided insights into the operational status of various firms established within MIHAN, as well as those whose land allotments were cancelled due to prolonged inactivity .
