The Virginia Cavaliers were 75/1 to win the ACC before the season started.

The Hoos had won 3, 3, and 5 games in Tony Elliott’s first three seasons in charge, and it looked like he wasn’t long for the sidelines as the program tried to keep from becoming cannon fodder in the newly expanded conference.

A relatively soft schedule and a decent crop of transfers, including quarterback Chandler Morris, provided some hope, but it was more along the lines of “maybe they can get to a bowl game,” rather than “this team can win the ACC.”
