World No. 1 T20I batter Abhishek Sharma entered his name in the history books on Saturday (November 8) by becoming the quickest batter in the world to score 1000 runs in T20Is. The 24-year-old left-handed batter from Amritsar, who made his T20I debut for India on July 6, 2024, against Zimbabwe at Harare Sports Club, needed 11 runs in the ongoing fifth India-Australia T20I at The Gabba in Brisbane to complete 1000 runs in T20Is, and he achieved the objective during the fourth over of India’s innings.
Abhishek needed a total of 528 balls to reach the 1000-run mark in T20Is.
Before him the record of being the fastest batter to score 1000 runs in T20Is was in the name of India’s current T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav.
Surya made his T20I debut for India against England in Ahmedabad on March
