While the 49ers were active before the 2025 NFL trade deadline , San Francisco never ended up making a splash move many fans and analysts were expecting.

Coach Kyle Shanahan provided some insights into San Francisco's decision to forego any blockbuster moves during an interview with NBC Sports Bay Area's Matt Maiocco on "49ers Game Plan."

"Usually, if guys are available, there is a big risk with that," Shanahan told Maiocco. "They're available for a certain reason. Usually because they're going to be free the next year. The team that's giving up on their year usually is getting rid of people, so it can help them for the following year.
