Brock Purdy’s return to the field is getting closer.

49ers coach Kyle Shanahan provided an assuring update on his injured quarterback on KNBR 680’s “Dirty Work with Copes & D Pop.”

“I’m pretty confident you will see him this year,” Shanahan said.

While that doesn’t confirm anything for this week or the next, it shows clear progress in Purdy’s recovery . Shanahan noted that Purdy’s been able to handle more work on the practice field with first-team reps .

“I think we’re definitely being more aggressive with him as we go this week, more aggressive than that last week,” Shanahan explained. “He’s definitely getting better each week, headed in the right direction.”
