Maple Leafs defenceman Brandon Carlo was probably looking forward to this weekend more than most.

For one thing, he’ll get to face his old team, the Boston Bruins , for the first time since being traded to the Leafs at the 2025 trade deadline.

For another, his pal and mentor Zdeno Chara will be around for his induction into the Hockey Hall of Fame.

“It’s an amazing honour for him and what he’s going through,” Carlo said. “Definitely well deserved.

“He was definitely a guy that I had no problem reaching out to if ever I had a question or anything. He’s always been an open book and a great mentor of mine. I have a lot of respect for him.”
