Jammu and Kashmir Police have recovered an AK-47 rifle from the locker of Dr. Adeel Ahmed, a resident of Anantnag and a former employee of the Government Medical College (GMC), Anantnag.

Officials confirmed that a case has been registered under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967 (UAPA) and the doctor has been taken into custody for interrogation.

According to police sources, the recovery of such a prohibited weapon raises serious suspicions of potential links to terrorism-related activities.

Dr. Ahmed had been serving at GMC Anantnag until October 24, 2024. Investigators are now probing how the rifle came into his possession and whether it was connected to any militant network.
