Mississippi State had its breakthrough first SEC win under second-year coach Jeff Lebby against Arkansas.
Now it will try to pull a major upset on Saturday Nov. 8 against a No. 5 Georgia football team chasing a spot in the College Football Playoff.
Mississippi State (5-4, 1-4 SEC) snapped a 16-game SEC losing steak with 38-35 victory against the Razorbacks. It will now try to win back-to-back conference games for the first time since beating Texas A&M and Arkansas in October 2022.
Mississippi State this season lost in overtime to Tennessee and Texas A&M and by two to Florida.
“If you really take a deep dive into their season, they’ve been in all one score games,” Georgia offensive tackle Earnest Greene said.
