Iwas a secondary education teacher and reading specialist at Hudson High School for over 20 years. As a retired educator, I am very concerned about the current admistration's disregard for and continued depletion of the Department of Education as indicated by its plan to lay off nearly every employee in the special education division. Who will be responsible for providing for the education of legions of children with special needs? Apparently, these students are not worth specialized approaches. Even if they have learning disorders, they are expected to succeed wthout professional intervention and without help for the already overburdened classroom teacher. I hope parents and teachers will rise up to oppose the continued educational destruction that is taking place in public education. I
