Delhi Capitals (DC) had one of the most curious seasons in the IPL last year. Starting with a new ownership, a revamped coaching staff, and a newly promoted captain in Axar Patel, they looked like the best team after the first half.

They won four matches on the trot, lost narrowly to the Mumbai Indians in the fifth, and tied the sixth game. Without changing much of the team or the tactics, they won only two of the next eight (one was a wash-out) and missed out on a top-four finish by a point and some NRR ratings.
