: Internally displaced persons living in the prefabricated housing complex at Sajiwa in Imphal East are facing severe hardships, saying the meagre daily allowance provided by the government is ‘inadequate’.
Four hundred and forty-six internally displaced persons (IDPs) living in the housing complex at Sajiwa in Imphal East have returned Rs 11,74,320 to the authorities — rejecting the state government’s daily allowance of ₹84 per person.
The displaced families, who have been living in relief camps since ethnic violence broke out in Manipur on May 3, 2023, marched to the Sub-Divisional Office (SDO) in Imphal East to return the amount, calling the allowance “insulting” and “inadequate.”
