Australia’s T20I skipper Mitchell Marsh was taken aback as Adam Gilchrist asked the massive World Cup leadership question, wondering if the former would keep leading the side if Pat Cummins turns up fit for the tournament, which will be played in India next year.
Gilchrist asked Marsh whether he would lead Australia at the upcoming T20 World Cup in India and Sri Lanka, or if Cummins would reclaim the role upon his return.
Gilchrist’s question came as a surprise, given that Marsh led Australia in the 2024 T20 World Cup, where the team fell short of the semi-finals. He remains the designated T20 captain, with Cummins having played under him in the previous edition as well.
