GILLIAM, La. - One person is dead and another in life-threatening condition after a wrong-way crash Friday evening, on I-49 near Louisiana Highway 170, just outside of Gilliam.

According to the Caddo Parish Sheriff's Office, deputies responded to a two-vehicle crash after a dark-colored SUV entered I-49 driving the wrong direction, colliding head-on with a white pickup truck.

The driver of the dark SUV died at the scene, according to Caddo Fire District 7. The driver of the white pickup was airlifted to Oschner LSU Health Shreveport.

Deputies are still investigating the crash.
