The Grand Junction Regional Airport reported a handful of flight cancellations less than one day after CEO Angela Padalecki said she was “optimistic” about avoiding major disruptions from the Federal Aviation Administration’s push to reduce air traffic during the ongoing federal government shutdown.

In an email shortly after 5 a.m. on Friday, Padalecki said the local airport was informed of two round-trip cancellations that day, along with another today and two more on Sunday. All the canceled flights were scheduled to travel between Grand Junction and Denver International Airport, and were on United Airlines, which typically runs six flights through Grand Junction per day; more than any other carrier operating in the Grand Valley.
