Karimnagar: Farmers staged a rasta roko by placing paddy bags on the Karimnagar–Jammikunta road at Narsingapur in Veenavanka mandal on Saturday, protesting the stalling of paddy procurement by the police.

Farmers had been drying paddy on the roads for the past ten days, but weighing at the procurement centre had not yet begun. Hamalis had refused to weigh the paddy, demanding a hike in weighing charges. As the local hamalis refused, farmers engaged labourers from Bihar on Friday and began the process.
