SRINAGAR : Police in South Kashmir’s Anantnag have recovered an AK-47 rifle from the locker of a former senior resident doctor at Government Medical College (GMC) Anantnag, officials said on Friday. The detained doctor has been identified as Adeel Ahmad Rather, son of Abdul Majeed Rather, and a resident of Qazigund, Anantnag. He served as a senior resident at GMC Anantnag until October 24, 2024.
Officials said the weapon was found in Dr Rather’s personal locker at the college. Both the doctor and the rifle are now in the custody of Srinagar Police, who are conducting the investigation alongside the Joint Interrogation Centre (JIC) Anantnag.
