A woman is fighting for her life after being struck by a car in Swindon this morning (Saturday, November 8). as police launch an appeal for witnesses.

Wiltshire Police describe the woman as being in a "life threatening condition" and have closed part of Dorcan Way while police investigate the scene.

A spokesperson for Wiltshire Police said: "The injured pedestrian is currently being treated in hospital - she is believed to have been struck by a car which did not remain at the scene.

"It is possible that the driver is unaware they have struck someone and officers are appealing for them to contact investigators as a matter of urgency.
