Kimberley Walsh has defended contestants who sign up to Strictly Come Dancing with a background of performing. Each year, celebrities who have embraced a stage before tend to be seen as having an advantage over those without such experience.

This year, Love Island star Amber Davies and Emmerdale ’s Lewis Cope were the two mostly at the centre of these claims, due to their West End pasts. Despite this however, both continue to thrive in the competition with their respective professional dance partners.

Kimberley, who competed on the show in 2012 and again in 2017 for the Christmas special, doesn’t believe it’s unfair to have performers on the show.
