SANTA CLARITA, Calif. (KABC) -- An off-duty Los Angeles Police Department officer was killed in a solo-vehicle crash Saturday morning in Santa Clarita, authorities said.
Los Angeles County Fire Department personnel were called at 2:15 a.m. to Cinema Drive and Bouquet Canyon Road where they found the vehicle engulfed in flames, a spokesperson for the fire department said
News video from the scene showed the Tesla sedan was destroyed in the fire after slamming into a utility pole.
The male driver was pronounced dead at the scene by fire department personnel. The LAPD confirmed he was an off-duty officer. His name was not immediately released.
Deputies remained at the scene for several hours investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash, the sheriff's department said.
