A UK household has managed to slash energy bills - saying they now cost nothing for a three-bed detached house. Steve Hunt bought his home pre-fitted with a heat pump and 24 solar panels thanks to the Octopus Energy zero-bill scheme.

Last January, he and his partner bought a three-bed detached house in Burgess Hill, West Sussex from housebuilders Thakeham for £565,000.

“We liked it mostly from the money-saving perspective,” says Hunt, “but also for the comfort of not having to worry if we turn up the heat in winter.”
