GREENSBORO, N.C. (WGHP) — A North Carolina woman has been charged after her baby died from serious injuries, according to court documents.
Warrants show that Keaja Valerie Dixon, 22, was arrested and charged with felony intentional child abuse causing serious bodily injury and felony first-degree murder.
She is in the Guilford County Jail.
Allegedly, in January of this year, Dixon inflicted serious injuries on her 2.5-month-old baby, including "life-threatening brain trauma" and a fractured skull.
She was charged with first-degree murder in connection with the baby's death.
In court, prosecutors alleged that back in January, the baby was crying and his father was trying to soothe him back to sleep. Purportedly, Dixon texted her husband to let the baby cry because she wanted attention.
