Former NFL quarterback and current Fox Sports commentator Mark Sanchez has reportedly been relieved from his duties at the network for his role in instigating an altercation in Indianapolis back in October.

A spokesperson from FOX confirmed his departure to TMZ, but wouldn't elaborate, saying, "We can confirm that Mark Sanchez is no longer with the network. There will be no further comment at this time." In early October, Sanchez was hospitalized after being stabbed. He was later arrested for three misdemeanors — battery with injury, unlawful entry of a motor vehicle, and public intoxication — while at the hospital. A day later, Sanchez was also issued a felony battery charge by police.

Security footage shows Sanchez following a 69-year-old truck driver into an alley, before allegedly confronting him. Police reports would state that the truck driver felt physically threatened as the confrontation escalated, leading him to pepper-spray Sanchez before pulling out a knife. Witnesses said that they could smell alcohol strongly on Sanchez. After the incident, Sanchez's brother would issue a statement saying, "This has been a deeply distressing time for everyone involved," he wrote. "Mark remains under medical care for the serious injuries he sustained and is focused on his recovery as the legal process continues."

Reports have also indicated that NFL Hall of Famer Drew Brees may replace Mark Sanchez, joining Adam Amin in the booth on gamedays.
