BATESBURG-LEESVILLE, S.C. (WRDW/WAGT) - Authorities with the Batesburg-Leesville Police Department have released the identity and charges for the robbery suspect in Wednesday’s officer-involved shooting.

Georgia resident Alfred Anthony Woods was arrested and charged Friday after being released from the hospital for his alleged role in a Wednesday officer-involved shooting at a Batesburg-Leesville gas station.

Woods has been charged with two counts of assaulting a police officer while resisting arrest, attempted murder, resisting arrest with a deadly weapon, grand larceny, armed robbery and unlawfully taking a weapon from a police officer.

The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division said the shooting happened Tuesday night at an Enmarket gas station on West Columbia Avenue.
