DEKALB COUNTY, Ala. (WHNT) — The DeKalb County Sheriff's Office said a man wanted after he reportedly shot at police and led them on a day-long manhunt has been arrested in Georgia.
DCSO said that Gary Childers was arrested on Friday in Floyd County, Georgia, around 9:15 p.m. central time.
The sheriff's office said he was taken into custody at a service station. Authorities said he does have a probation violation warrant in Georgia, which they say may delay his extradition to Alabama.
Childers had been wanted on an attempted warrant after DCSO said he shot at police after they attempted to stop him on Oct. 29. The sheriff's office said that Childers is also facing charges for certain persons forbidden to possess a firearm.
