Our state senator and Pennsylvania GOP Chair Greg Rothman recently argued in an op-ed that the “free market” — not government policy — should solve our housing crisis. What he didn’t mention is that he personally profits from that same market.
Rothman is a longtime real estate broker and developer whose firm, RSR Realty, lists dozens of high-end homes in Cumberland County, many priced above $800,000. That’s nearly ten times our area’s median household income. His own financial disclosures show income from multiple real estate ventures, meaning he benefits when housing prices stay high.
Pennsylvania faces a shortage of roughly 100,000 affordable units. Working families are being priced out of homeownership while developers and brokers like Sen. Rothman prosper.
