GASTONIA, N.C. – Two people are facing charges over the death of a 23-year-old disabled woman who was in their care.

Officers say they responded to a crash on I-85 on Oct. 26. The car involved was driven by Marlo Wallace, who told them at the scene they wound find a body at her home on Green Brook Trail in Dallas.

That is where investigators did find 23-year-old Aaliyah Fortner dead.

Investigators say Fortner had been living under the care of Wallace and Vera Williams at the time of her death.

Both women are being held behind bars on bond totaling $2.5 million.
