The phrase "too close to call" is thrown around liberally in the early hours and days after election night.

In the case of Glendale's $35 million operations bond vote Nov. 4, that terminology becomes more true with each passing update.

Updated totals released by Maricopa County at 4:37 p.m. Friday, Nov. 7, show Glendale's bond question failig by a mere 25 votes, with 12,627 against (50.05%) and 12,602 (49.95%) for it. On election night, the no votes led by nearly 300.

"We are encouraged by the positive trend on Bond Question 2. The narrow margin demonstrates how every vote matters in elections that can be decided by just a handful of ballots," Glendale Assistant City Manager Vicki Rios stated in a text Nov. 7.
