JOHNSTON, R.I. (WPRI) -- The second annual "A Reason to Walk & Run" was held in Johnston on Saturday, to help benefit brain cancer research.

The event, held at Johnston High School, raises money to support neuro-oncology research at Rhode Island Hospital, along with the studies of brain cancers including glioblastoma.

In a release, organizers said the event was "spearheaded by the loved ones of the late Johnston Police Chief Joseph Razza, Dr. Alexander Robertson a prominent Rhode Island spine surgeon and Robert Shein, director of Rhode Island College`s Language Lab."

All three had died from glioblastoma, a cancerous brain tumor, in 2023.

Former 12 News meteorologist Michelle Muscatello served as the emcee of the event. Her father, Bruno, passed away from glioblastoma, in 2009.
