PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) -- The Rhode Island Department of Health (RIDOH) is urging families to be alert about a certain brand of infant formula after a baby recently contracted infant botulism.

State health officials said the child, who is recovering, was hospitalized after first experiencing symptoms on Oct. 24 and a diagnosis was given Friday.

The baby consumed ByHeart Whole Nutrition Infant Formula that was bough online, according to RIDOH.

"RIDOH is supporting an investigation by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) into a multi-state cluster of infant botulism cases where it was reported that several of the infants consumed ByHeart powdered infant formula," a spokesperson for RIDOH explained.
