A Scottish woman who had been bed bound with an advanced autoimmune disease for over two years is finally mobile thanks to a local charity project, in what organisers described as a 'joy to behold'.

50-year-old Amanda Jones had been confined to her bed for more than two years due to multiple sclerosis (MS), a disease that affects both the brain and spinal cord.

But she has finally received a specialised recliner chair on wheels, allowing her to regain some independence, after charity ERGoodCauses (ERGC) found a way to raise the £4,100 needed for the equipment .

The local authorities and the NHS are too strained to be able to provide this kind of equipment to many of those who need it, due to ongoing financial struggles to provide for the increasing aging population.
