Frank Lampard revealed that his Coventry City match winner Ephron Mason-Clark was in “good form” in thre dressing room after being stretchered off with a head injury in the dramatic final few minutes at Mark Robins’ Stoke .

The Sky Blues winger popped up with a stunning hooked volley four minutes from the end of normal time and got injured as he landed on the deck, requiring treatment for several minutes before being carried off as his team-mate had to see out 11 long minutes of added time in a tight and competitive first v second contest at the Bet365 Stadium.

It was a game that lacked clear cut chances at both ends and was crying out for a bit of quality in front of goal to make the difference.

“Yeah,” agreed Lampard after the 1-0 away win, “and it was amazing quality for the goal.
