Honolulu police are investigating a hit-and-run fatal pedestrian crash after a 65-year-old man was struck by a vehicle while walking on a private driveway in Waianae Friday.

At about 5:10 p.m., the man was crossing the driveway of Hale Wai Vista near Farrington Highway when he was hit by a vehicle driven by an unidentified motorist who was traveling south within the extended driveway, according to the Honolulu Police Department’s Traffic Division, Vehicular Homicide Section.

The motorist made a right turn onto Farrington Highway and continued traveling west without stopping to render aid or provide information, police said.

Honolulu Emergency Medical Services paramedics treated the man and took him in critical condition to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.
