LEXINGTON COUNTY, S.C. — A person of interest in a Lexington County shooting was taken into custody on Saturday afternoon, officials say.
The Lexington County Sheriff's Department said that 32-year-old Jacob Hill, who had been named a person of interest in a shooting outside of Pelion on Friday, was caught around 1:40 p.m. Authorities didn't share additional details at the time but said more information would follow.
Authorities said previously that the shooting happened on Hartley Quarter Road, which is just south of Pelion, but didn't elaborate on the nature of the incident or the condition of any victim.
As the search progressed, the Lexington One School District confirmed that schools in the Pelion area were temporarily placed on secure status, meaning the exterior doors were locked
