The residents suspected they were being targeted

BRISTOL – In a seeming and presumed ode to "The Godfather ," a deer head was left on the doorstep of a house on Elmwood Drive the day before Halloween.

The residents suspected foul play and intimidation, in response to their opposition to bow hunting in the area, Bristol Police Capt. Steven St. Pierre wrote in a news release.

Police investigated the Oct. 30 incident, canvassing the area, checking surveillance cameras and interviewing "persons of interest," but no evidence of hunting, hunters in the area, anyone suspicious, or much if any human activity turned up, St. Pierre said.

Neither hunting nor roadkill had been reported that would explain the 1-year-old doe's head being left on the doorstep.
