Racing Louisville FC 's historic 2025 season came to an end Saturday with a loss to the Washington Spirit that was decided by penalty kicks at Audi Field in the first round of the National Women's Soccer League playoffs.
Washington outscored Louisville 3-1 in the shootout.
Making its first postseason appearance since joining the NWSL in 2021, No. 7-seeded Racing trailed 1-0 entering second-half stoppage time after conceding a 73rd-minute goal to Washington's Gift Monday. But Kayla Fischer drew Louisville level with her fourth goal of the season in the 92nd minute: a right-footed shot into the back of the net off a long pass into the box from Courtney Petersen .
