NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) - Not seeing too much change or even improvement in this week's Drought Monitor.

The latest drought outlook released on Thursday says that "several tenths of an inch of rain...fell on isolated areas across southern Mississippi, Louisiana, and coastal Texas," but it was not enough to see significant change, if any.

So for now, we're continuing to see "moderate" drought conditions across coastal Mississippi plus around both the Sound and Lake Pontchartrain areas.

Most of the South Shore, North Shore and Louisiana coastal areas are experiencing "abnormally dry" conditions.

According to the National Weather Service, New Orleans has seen 52.90-inches of precipitation since January 1, 2025 with the normal value being 55.61 so we are a little over 2.5-inches under in precip
