YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) -- With the government shutdown still going on, many who rely on SNAP benefits are struggling to put food on the table, but a local church wants to help with the burden.
Steel Valley Church on Wick Avenue in Youngstown holds food pantry outreach events every third Saturday of the month, but with the uncertainty around SNAP benefits, they held an extra outreach event Saturday afternoon to help provide food for the community.
Emily Daigneault, an outreach volunteer at the event, says that the ministry is answering the call to help their community.
"We're located right here on the north side, and so just in our neighborhood, there are many individuals who need assistance with food. We believe that as a church in this area that we have a calling to serve them and be
