NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WFSB) - A woman was arrested for allegedly stabbing a 71-year-old man in the back on Friday morning in New Haven.
The suspect was identified as Melissa Healey, 26, from New Haven.
As a result of the stabbing, the elderly man was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.
According to police, the “unprovoked attack” happened around 11:51 a.m. near Chapel St. and Sherman Ave.
Healey asked the victim for money and he gave her a dollar.
However, authorities said Healey began arguing that the man should’ve given her more money and in turn took out a knife.
The 71-year-old man tried to run away, but fell and broke a leg.
While he was on the ground, Healey allegedly stabbed him once in the back.
