NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — As homecoming week kicked off for Xavier University, so did the popup pantry.
Spot Me Inc. business owner and Xavier alumna, Dr. Tanaya Kizzine, returned to her old stomping grounds, distributing feminine hygiene bags to students.
Creating her business three years ago, her goal is to stamp out period insecurity and period poverty.
"I started this mission because of a young lady at my church who was searching for a product, and she couldn't find one anywhere in sight. So I started the mission to help others who may not be able to otherwise support them,” Dr. Kizzine said.
Dr. Kizzine said she and others packed ahead of homecoming, filling bags with pads, tampons, feminine wipes, and shrink towels.
