EAST LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) - Coming off a thrilling overtime win on Friday, Michigan State's hockey team didn't need as much drama on Saturday.
The top-ranked Spartans defeated No. 3 Penn State, 5-0, on Saturday to sweep the series with the Nittany Lions.
Charlie Stramel started the scoring for MSU in the first period, then set up standout freshman Porter Marone for the team's second goal in the period.
In the second period, Colin Ralph scored his first goal of the season and gave MSU a 3-0 lead entering the third period.
Penn State would pull its goalie, with just under five minutes to play, and Stramel took advantage to make it 4-0. Stramel is now up to five goals on the season.
Anthony Romani would cap things off by scoring his second goal of the weekend, to give MSU a dominating 5
