MOORHEAD — Minnesota State Moorhead senior Gage Florence got the equivalent of a career curtain call late in the game Saturday, on a chilly afternoon in which he made NCAA Division II football history.

During the 2-minute warning of the fourth quarter, the digital scoreboard showed clip that honored Florence with a montage of short video messages congratulating the wide receiver. The well-wishes included his mother Kristin Florence-Bodine, who was also in the crowd.

Florence eclipsed the D-II career receptions record in the second quarter of a 44-20 victory against the University of Jamestown in NSIC football before 1,767 fans at Alex Nemzek Stadium.

“I would have never thought a video like that in the middle of the game would have come in a million years," Florence said.
