A 37-year-old motorcyclist was killed in a crash outside a Wawa in Lodi on Saturday afternoon, Nov. 8, authorities said.
Lodi police responded to Essex Street in front of the Wawa store after receiving reports of a crash involving a motorcycle and a vehicle around 3 p.m., according to Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella and Deputy Chief of Detectives Jeff Angermeyer.
Officers arrived with emergency medical personnel and found the motorcyclist seriously injured, officials said. The victim was taken to a nearby hospital but was pronounced dead a short time later.
The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and is cooperating with investigators, authorities said.
The Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit and the Lodi Police Department are conducting a joint investigation under the direction of Chief Matthew Finck and Chief Donald Scorzetti.
The victim’s identity has not yet been released, pending notification of family, officials said.
