NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WFSB) - Police are adding extra patrols to downtown New Haven following a deadly shooting on Halloween that killed an 18-year-old and wounded three others.
More police officers are setting up posts and will be walking around popular areas to prevent violence among young people.
The recent violence is causing changes on regular Friday and Saturday nights and on special occasions. Police said on big nights out, like New Year’s Eve, they will call in officers like they do for major city events such as the road race and parades.
Officers are getting help from the State Police Violent Crime Task Force and Regional Stolen Car Task Force.
