LANGDON, N.D. — In a cold, crisp Saturday afternoon in the North Dakota Division A state semifinals, Landgon Area-Munich needed everything out of Jax Johnson.
He delivered with 189 yards on the ground and four total touchdowns in a 36-26 win over Velva-Drake-Anamoose-Garrison for a trip to the Dakota Bowl.
The grass was tough and Johnson is an every-down player who even contributes largely on both sides of special teams. When his team needed him, he was ready to go.
“It felt great," Johnson said. "Once I started moving and got warm, I just didn’t get cold."
A snowy start to the game opened up the possibility for someone to break an early run. Langdon received the first kick and just three carries later, it was a 55-yard touchdown run to start the scoring.
