PHOENIX (AZFamily) — Record heat is likely on Sunday, but then big changes are on the way late next week with cooler temperatures and a slight chance of rain.
After high temperatures reached the upper 80s this afternoon, we will get our typical nice evening, with temperatures falling into the 70s and then the low 60s by early Sunday morning. The ridge of high pressure that has been bringing the heat will get a bit stronger. This will launch highs to around 90 on Sunday. If this forecast verifies, it would break the high-temperature record of 88 degrees set on Sunday.
We may get close to, but not quite break, the high-temperature records next week, with highs in the mid to upper 80s from Monday through Thursday. The records on those dates are in the low to mid-90s.
