PHOENIX (AZFamily/AP) — The Supreme Court on Friday granted the Trump administration’s emergency appeal to temporarily block a court order to fully fund SNAP food aid payments amid the government shutdown, even though residents in some states already have received the funds.

“I started crying. I literally started jumping up and down like, oh my God, we got the food. We could go shopping right now,” said Karen Engle, who lives in Phoenix.

Engle is a mom of six who says her full November EBT benefits were loaded into her account on Friday evening. It followed weeks of uncertainty that also saw the Engle family have to go to St. Mary’s Food Bank to get food.
